ABOUT US

The Beta Eta Lambda Scholarship Foundation of Alpha Phi Alpha, a not for profit 501(c)3 organization, was established in 1997. Our mission is to assist the educational advancement of minority students in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area via scholarships, mentoring, and leadership development.

While the Foundation was established in 1997, scholarships have been awarded to students since 1972. Scholarships are funded by the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Beta Eta Lambda Chapter, investments in the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, and partnerships with individual, corporate, and university donors.

In 2014, the Alpha Boys' Institute was launched to mentor and develop leadership skills in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in high-risk environments. With two locations operating at F.D. Moon Middle School and Millwood Middle School, students are taught life skills and careers/trades. Our mission focus' on challenging the "school-to-prison pipeline," a trend wherein children are funneled out of public schools and into juvenile and criminal justice systems.
