Annual Scholarship & Career Day Banquet
The Beta Eta Lambda Scholarship Foundation of Alpha Phi Alpha awards 18 scholarships annually to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students. Scholarships are funded through partnerships with Langston University (Oklahoma’s only Historically Black College and University); The University of Oklahoma; Oklahoma State University; The University of Central Oklahoma; Oklahoma Christian University; the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma; Oklahoma City University; Rose State College, and private donors. The total value of these scholarships exceeds $170,000.
The annual Scholarship and Career Day Banquet have an attendance of over 250 guests comprised of civic leaders, college presidents and vice presidents, and students from over twelve high schools in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. In addition to receiving scholarships, high school students receive an opportunity to job shadow a professional in their career field of interest. The job shadowing opportunities provide students with networking opportunities and direct exposure to careers they will study at the collegiate level.
